The world's fastest shark is now facing extinction. That's why we've partnered with award-winning cinematographer, artist and shark lover, Joe Romeiro, to create three unique Signature Series products celebrating the short-fin mako. 15% of sales of this limited edition collection will go to Project AWARE, PADI's primary partner in conservation, to help support protection efforts for valuable shark species. This jawsome gear saves the very shark it features.
Naturalist, waterman and award-winning cinematographer Joe Romeiro has spent over a decade filming and interacting with sharks all over the world for Discovery, National Geographic, BBC, Animal Planet, CNN, and MSNBC. Joe’s passion for the short-fin makos, white sharks and blue sharks in his local waters have stolen his heart, and he has spent years fighting for their survival.
As the founder and executive director of The Atlantic Shark Institute, Joe partners with well-respected shark scientists to answer questions concerning the biology, survivability and sustainability of sharks in the northwest Atlantic with a special focus on makos. Through this work, he is fueling awareness and legislation to protect the species not just regionally, but worldwide.
Overfishing of these charismatic species by both commercial and recreational anglers has led to many global populations collapsing. Project AWARE and its Shark League partners are joining together to urge top fishing nations to prohibit the retention of Atlantic shortfin Mako sharks. Learn more.
